Every figure is cited
No number appears on this site without a source record carrying the publisher, the title, the URL and the date we retrieved it. Sources are listed on the page that uses them, not buried in a colophon.
Three grades, and we use all three
Verified — the full record is present and internally consistent: round totals ascend and land on the reported final. Partial record — real but incomplete; the missing fields are marked — in the tables rather than filled with a guess. Disputed — two sources we consider credible disagree, and we have not resolved it. We show both and say so.
Arithmetic is a check, not decoration
Cumulative round totals must never decrease and must equal the reported final; the all-time title counts must reconcile to the number of contested editions. The build fails if they don't. That is why the 31-edition tally on this site can be checked against any other.
Contestants are schoolchildren
Records stay inside what the competition itself made public. No personal dossiers, no tracing people forward through their later lives without a clear archival reason and a public source. A name published in an official contest report is in scope. Anything beyond that is not, by default.
Media is linked, never rehosted
Official broadcasts and photographs belong to the people who made them. This archive points at them and keeps the attribution; it does not copy them onto its own server.
Unofficial, and loudly so
The National Science & Maths Quiz is produced and owned by Primetime Limited. The Store Room has no connection to them. The name is used to describe what is being archived, which is what names are for.
Corrections are public
When something here is wrong we change it and say what changed. The correction form is the same form as the contribution form, because in practice they are the same act.
